Mohammad, also known as “Yorichi,” is a 20-year-old artist from India. His journey began at the age of 5, when he was just a small, creative kid who loved to draw. From an early age, he immersed himself in art. Over time, he dedicated himself to mastering his craft, developing the ability to create realistic drawings, detailed sketches, and manga.
However, in 2022, he stopped creating drawings. After that turning point, he shifted his full focus to thumbnail design after discovering Joseph Blaze’s YouTube channel, channeling his creativity and artistic experience into a new direction.
Today, Yorichi works as a full-time thumbnail designer and is available for hire.

Overview
This thumbnail was a practice project for Seltix video. The overall design is inspired by this MrBeast thumbnail:

Starting assets
I made the basic body structure from PoseMy.art, and the mansion image was from Google.

Composition
I had the reference image, but I wanted to create something different. I knew I needed a top-angle shot, but the helicopter shot has been overused by many creators. So instead, I thought of placing him sitting on top of a cliff, pointing toward the mansion. I created this rough sketch to clearly visualize the idea and organize everything in my mind.

Editing process
First, we needed to make the idea exist, and then we could add the details. My initial goal was to create the island and the sea from a top-angle view, just like I imagined from the cliff. So I went to ChatGPT to generate a basic image that matched what I had in mind.

Once I had the background ready, I started working on our character using Nano Banana in Ideogram. I generated multiple results and selected one of the best versions.

After that, I moved to Photoshop to color-correct and balance everything properly.

Then I asked Nano Banana to replace the guy in the picture with Seltix. After a couple of trials, I got this result. He still didn’t fully look like Seltix, but at least I had the body placement ready haha.

After correcting the colors, making them pop, and balancing everything, it was time to make the mansion and island look abandoned. So I went back to Nano Banana and prompted it to make the island look abandoned. After generating a few versions, I got a good result and masked different elements as needed in Photoshop.

Next, I needed to fix the face to make it look more realistic. So I used the Characters option in Ideogram, which is one of my favorite features and one of the reasons I use it so much. For better accuracy, I first cropped the current face like this.

Then I masked the entire head in Ideogram and generated multiple results. From those, I selected the most accurate one.

After that, I did some final touch-ups and adjustments to make the thumbnail clean and attention-grabbing. Finally, I upscaled it using Topaz Bloom and Topaz Labs to give it a more premium look.
Overall, this thumbnail took me around 4–5 hours to complete, and people really liked it. Even Seltix wanted this thumbnail haha — I was really glad!

What do you enjoy most about creating thumbnails?
The most enjoyable thing for me is that creating something new mainly it's new composition like making the thumbnail more dynamic.
How does your drawing background help you design better thumbnails?
My background in drawing helped me a lot throughout this journey. Because of it, I already knew how to create realistic elements. In most IRL thumbnails, shadows and highlights are very important, along with understanding how a scene would look from a person’s perspective and how to compose it properly. I also had a solid understanding of the basics of color theory, which helped me make everything look balanced and visually appealing.
